THE WORD WORKS BY AUTHORITY

Image
June 15.   THE WORD WORKS BY AUTHORITY  Who can speak and have it happen if the Lord has not decreed it? Lamentations 3:37 NIV When we were young and my cousin would come to ask me to do some chores, I would ask who wanted it done. If she said ‘mummy’ or ‘daddy’, I would do it but if it was her own demand, I wouldn't do it and there weren't any consequences. However, when her request was backed with the authority of mummy or daddy, the request was carried out as soon as possible. That is how authority is to the word.  Nobody can say anything and it will be carried out in the spirit realm except the Lord decrees it. The implication of this is that no curse placed upon a child of God can stand except God decrees it. This is why deliverance is preached so that any cursed person can hear the word that will release him.  Be assured that once you have and remain under the cover of the Holy Spirit, no one can curse you.  Let Us Pray: Dear Lord God and my Fa...

THE WORD IS MEDICINE

Image
June 14.  1 Chronicles ch 10-11; John 18:22-40 The Word Is Medicine He sent out his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave. Psalms 107:20 NIV When the children of Israel became rebellious and disobeyed God, they became sick and were near to the grave. They cried to God and He sent His word and healed them and delivered them from the grave. The Word of God is health to the bones of man. If you find His word and read and believe, the word heals you.  Health is one of the major concerns of people now. Social media is full of posts on health now that science is failing and where it is helpful, the cost is beyond the reach of most people. People have however ignored the word of God which is free and effective. I see posts in hospital wards that read WE CARE GOD HEALS and I wonder how people ignore the healer for the carer. The Healer is there for whoever cares to go to Him at any time. Jesus is the Word that was with God in the beginning and was God and th...

THE WORD IS LIGHT

Image
June 13.     The Word Is Light Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. Psalms 119:105 NIV In Bible times, when there was no street lighting, they needed a lamp for their feet as well as light for their path. You can now visualise the word as a street lamp for your feet and path in the spirit.  This is how it works.  The entrance of thy words giveth light; It giveth understanding unto the simple. Psalm 119:130 KJV  The word of God or word at all lights the mind of man in whatever direction it should take. Have you ever been confused or in the dark about the steps to take concerning an issue? A word or phrase enters your mind and you have an insight or inspiration. If you have given your heart to Jesus and ask the Holy Spirit to guide you, that word will be the word of God. If you follow it, you will succeed in whatever you do. If it is any other word, you are walking in darkness and you will stumble.  Have you surrendered your life ...

THE WORD IS WATER

Image
June 12.   …to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, Ephesians 5:26 NIV   One of the uses of water in the physical is washing. It is the same in the spirit. Water of the word can also be used to wash and even pollute both in the spiritual as well as physical.   Have you heard the word brainwash before? What is used to wash the brain? The water of the word. If you want to brainwash anyone, you speak the word you want to get into his brain to him instead of what he had held as truth until he believes and holds the new fact you are presenting to him.   This is the process by which faith or fear is generated. People can brainwash you or you can brainwash yourself. You need to speak the word to people to hear and speak it until they really hear it enough to make them make a decision concerning it. I heard the word of Christ several times until I began to speak it to myself then I believed and gave my life to Christ. I then...

THE WORD IS FOOD

Image
July 11.      Deuteronomy 8:3 NIV [3] He humbled you, causing you to hunger and then feeding you with manna, which neither you nor your ancestors had known, to teach you that man does not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord.   God led the Israelites for forty years in the wilderness without food and they were sustained with manna that they neither made nor knew from where it came. God used this to tell them that man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.   Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Matthew 4:4 NIV The word from the mouth of God is what gives life to our entire being. It takes putting the word of God that you believe to practice to see it works.   Some years back, we were asked to fast which I don't normally do but this time it was even worse as I had no food to break. When...

THE WORD IS A SWORD

Image
June 10.    See what they spew from their mouths— the words from their lips are sharp as swords, and they think, “Who can hear us?”- Psalms 59:7 NIV   Has someone talked to you before and it was like you were pierced with a sharp sword? I have experienced it both ways. I had talked to someone before and I knew he died inwardly that day and someone had talked to me before that she killed something inside of me. The word is a sword. “ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.” Ephesians 6 : 17 AMP the word of God is called the sword of the spirit. Spiritual battles are not fought with hands and legs like we see in deliverance services but with the word of God which is the sword of the spirit. This is why Jesus said He was sent to preach deliverance to captives. Deliverance is by the word and not by boxing the devil or demons. We must learn how to preach deliverance to captives. The word is what drives demons out. The wor...

THE WORD JUDGES YOU

Image
June 9.    “For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned.” Matthew 12 : 37 NIV I remember one day when we were young, I wanted to report an incident that happened between me and my senior sister when our grandmother was not around. I told the story thinking my grandma would chastise my sister. Instead she chastised me saying by my words I pronounced myself guilty. I felt so bad because my sister really mistreated me but the way I presented the incident put me in trouble. The words we speak truly justifies or condemns us. The word we speak judges us and every word we speak shall be accounted for on the day of judgement. Such is the power of the word. If you were to be judged and given everything you say, will you be happy? How will your life be: confused or peaceful? Always remember this when you speak. Let us pray: Dear Father, now that I am knowing the power in my word, help me to control my heart from which my words come in Je...

YOUR WORD INSTRUCTS GOD

Image
June 8.   So tell them, ‘As surely as I live, declares the Lord, I will do to you the very thing I heard you say: Numbers 14:28 NIV I watched a video clip from one of the social media platforms. A teacher was canning a student for bad behaviour. After the first stroke of the cane, the student was sighing, crying and not stretching out his hand for more. Then the teacher said “give me your hand or you want to cane me?" The boy didn't reply then the teacher said “take the cane and flog me the way you are looking at me." He stretched the cane to the boy and the boy took it and flogged him twice. The teacher ran out sighing. Funny story but tells us what the word does. If you speak a word, you must expect its fruit. Even God had to tell Moses that He would do to the children of Israel what they had said to His hearing. This shows that whatever God hears from you regularly or emphatically, He gives to you. So whatever word you sow into God He does for you. Let us take ...

WHAT TO KEEP OUT OF YOUR HEART

Image
June 7    “ The devil or serpent is another sower that not just scatters but deliberately plants his seed in people's hearts like he did to Eve. Here is how he does it. Aside from the written commandments of God, God leaves a witness in our hearts that tells us when something is not Godly. However, the devil speaks to your mind that it is okay and it will give you beautiful results. The result will be quick and no one will know. As you hold his suggestions in your mind, you begin to understand how to do it until the evil grows and gives you the bad fruit. Eve looked at the tree and considered how good it was, then she ate it and gave it to Adam as well. If it is the word of God that enters your heart as well, and you hold it in there, it will open up to give you understanding and as you persevere doing it, it will yield its fruit. Are you conscious of the two voices in your heart? What challenge do you have now that you are debating which voice to obey? ...

GUARD YOUR HEART

Image
June 6.    “Keep your heart with all diligence, For out of it spring the issues of life.” - Proverbs 4 : 23 NKJV King Solomon counselled that we should guard our hearts with all diligence because issues of life come from there. How does Jesus explain this? The word is seed. The heart is the soil. The heart does not distinguish between seeds. Any seed sown will germinate once it has the right environment. The word of God is seed and likewise the word of the world or the world of the devil. Jesus explained how the heart processes the word. But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown.” - Matthew 13:23 NIV When the word gets into the heart and it is retained so that the hearer understands it then perseveres in doing what he understands, the fruit of the word will be life to him. Let us look at this example. Everyone thinks ...

YOU ARE A SOWER

Image
June 5.   “Listen! A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.” -   Mark 4:3-4 NIV Years back, farmers were digging the ground or making heaps to plant seeds at appropriate positions. Then mechanised farming evolved and machines were used as planting aids. As words are seeds, anyone who can speak is a farmer. I want us to look at mechanised planting aids that we have now for planting the word. Mass communication equipment like televisions, radios, and mass communication apps on phones and tablets. You see, someone who wants to scatter a seed word or idea goes on the radio and television to place an advertisement. Through this, he sows the seed of his word to as many people as tune in to the channel. Regular playing of the advert keeps it on people's mouths depending on how interesting it is and it germinates in people's hearts. Posts on social media apps have the same effect. Posts aff...

THE WORD IS SEED

Image
June 4.   “Here, then, is the deeper meaning to my parable: The word of God is the seed that is sown into hearts.” - Luke 8:11 TPT Sometimes, we see plants that we did not plant coming up in our compounds. In my house some years back, there was an unusual and lone pawpaw tree in my compound. It brought forth big sweet and succulent fruit. I don't know which species it was but it was good. Nobody watered it but it survived out of all the various species of pawpaw that grew randomly in the compound. Apart from seeds that grow randomly, one can choose to deliberately plant some trees of one’s desire. When you are looking at ‘ word ’ in general, consider it as seed and as you keep the seed word in your mouth, it will open up to how relevant this is in your life. Word as seed will now give meaning to why the word in the mouth enters the heart which is the soil as Jesus has explained. You can link Deuteronomy 30:15 to the Parable of the Sower. As you speak the word delibera...

SOMEONE SHOULD HAVE TOLD ME

Image
June 3.    “Now what I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you or beyond your reach. No, the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart so you may obey it.” Deuteronomy 30 : 11 , 14 NIV “Someone should have told me much earlier and I would not have struggled with wanting to please God by doing His commandments by my power yet messed everything up.” We were made to memorize scriptures but not taught how to see scriptures so as to feel them and handle them. The Word of life is not beyond human reach. God had to tell the children of Israel how to obey His word of life and the same thing applies to us now. The word of life is to be kept in their mouths and from there it enters their hearts where it will become their life. When I saw this while reading the bible, I chose to practice it and over time, I found that my nature started changing in line with the word I kept in my mouth.   I did not have to struggle to do good so I wo...

PROCESSING THE WORD

Image
June 2. “ On the third day they found him (Jesus) in the Temple, sitting with the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions.” Luke 2 : 46 GN T Can you remember when you were in school? How did you learn the different subjects? You did what Jesus did: sat with the teachers, spoke and asked questions. You were either given some homework to see if you understood the application of the principle taught. To become good at any subject, you revised it during prep time. The more we study, the better we become at the subject or the more proficient we get at the job. I have friends who choose to go to school in their senior years putting in so much effort into studying yet the same people only stay with expositions from pastors or in devotionals when it comes to Christianity and the word of God. To know the word, you must hear it and see it to handle it. Hearing is easy and straight. If you like what you hear, then there is a process to see it. Let's go through the w...
