YOU ARE A SOWER
June 5.
“Listen!
A farmer went out to sow his seed. As he was scattering the seed, some fell
along the path, and the birds came and ate it up.” - Mark 4:3-4 NIV
Years
back, farmers were digging the ground or making heaps to plant seeds at
appropriate positions. Then mechanised farming evolved and machines were used
as planting aids.
As
words are seeds, anyone who can speak is a farmer. I want us to look at
mechanised planting aids that we have now for planting the word.
Mass
communication equipment like televisions, radios, and mass communication apps
on phones and tablets. You see, someone who wants to scatter a seed word or idea
goes on the radio and television to place an advertisement. Through this, he
sows the seed of his word to as many people as tune in to the channel. Regular
playing of the advert keeps it on people's mouths depending on how interesting
it is and it germinates in people's hearts.
Posts
on social media apps have the same effect. Posts affect the perception of
people over various issues in life as they listen to them. This is why Jesus
said we should be careful what we hear and how we hear. Mark 4:24 and Luke
8:18. This is because what we hear especially consistently goes into our heart
and grows there to produce itself and more than we hear in our lives. Your life
will eventually become a testimony of what you hear. Mass communication
equipment are instruments to scatter word seeds. Depending on how your heart
is, it germinates well or it is killed.
Let
us pray: Dear Father, help me to sow good words at all times and in all
places in Jesus name.
