THE WORD IS SEED

 June 4.

“Here, then, is the deeper meaning to my parable: The word of God is the seed that is sown into hearts.” - Luke 8:11 TPT

Sometimes, we see plants that we did not plant coming up in our compounds. In my house some years back, there was an unusual and lone pawpaw tree in my compound. It brought forth big sweet and succulent fruit. I don't know which species it was but it was good. Nobody watered it but it survived out of all the various species of pawpaw that grew randomly in the compound. Apart from seeds that grow randomly, one can choose to deliberately plant some trees of one’s desire. When you are looking at ‘word’ in general, consider it as seed and as you keep the seed word in your mouth, it will open up to how relevant this is in your life.

Word as seed will now give meaning to why the word in the mouth enters the heart which is the soil as Jesus has explained. You can link Deuteronomy 30:15 to the Parable of the Sower. As you speak the word deliberately to your own hearing, you are sowing it into the soil of your heart. Just as no effort is needed by the farmer to grow the seed, it takes the nutrients it needs from the soil and grows so also is the word in the heart. It feeds on the nutrients in the heart. We shall see the nutrients in the heart from the teachings of Jesus.

There are some nutrients in the soil that may not support the growth of a particular seed yet it will support another. Think about this and see the word in a new perspective.

Let us pray: Dear Lord, thank you for your seed of Life. Help me to clean the soil of my heart so that your word can grow in me in Jesus name.
