IMITATE JESUS


June 23.       IMITATE JESUS


If we say that we remain in union with God, we should live just as Jesus Christ did. 1 John 2:6 GNT


Imitating Christ may be very difficult especially when it comes to loving your enemies and blessing those who curse you. If you are in Christ however, you have been given the power to do it. The Holy Spirit in you empowers you to be Christ here on earth. 

When you give your life to Christ, you are told to go out and preach Jesus to people and heal disease etc. imitating Christ. You don't see that happening and you become disappointed. I found that we are not told to take on the inward man of Christ. Jesus did not curse his enemies even on the cross. Stephen and the early Apostles did not rain fire and brimstone on their enemies either. They identified with Christ in suffering and forgiving their persecutors then they truly became imitators of Christ in the miracles as well. 

Study the life of Christ in the gospels especially His core values and see if yours is moving towards his own then you are on the path of imitating him. 


Let Us Pray: 

Dear Father, I wish to imitate Christ but I find myself choosing where and how I want to do it. Help me to yield to your will in imitating Christ as he did in the name of Jesus.

He is greater than all that he created, unlimited in nature, infinite and he is the God in three persons.   As you are dressed up to go out of your home, you are attired in all that God created including you yourself. HOPE IN THE WORLD

  MAY 3.      Romans:5: 4-5   Hope is not wishful thinking; hope is like making a long wish-list and waiting in great anticipation for each of the things you wished for to come through. You will find yourself marking off all the ones that God has answered.   On who are you hinging your hope on? My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and righteousness; this is the line of a very popular hymn that we all know. Is it true for you, can you let go and know that He who you hope on will not disappoint you. The faith that our hope has in God is the hope that does not disappoint, it transforms our suffering into endurance and our expectations into joy.
