PROCESSING THE WORD
June 2.
“On the third day they found him (Jesus) in the Temple, sitting with the Jewish teachers, listening to them and asking questions.” Luke 2:46 GNT
Can you remember when you were in school? How did you learn the different subjects? You did what Jesus did: sat with the teachers, spoke and asked questions. You were either given some homework to see if you understood the application of the principle taught. To become good at any subject, you revised it during prep time. The more we study, the better we become at the subject or the more proficient we get at the job. I have friends who choose to go to school in their senior years putting in so much effort into studying yet the same people only stay with expositions from pastors or in devotionals when it comes to Christianity and the word of God.
To know the word, you must hear it and see it to handle it. Hearing is easy and straight. If you like what you hear, then there is a process to see it. Let's go through the way to see scripture.
You take the scripture and keep it on your lips as often as you can. Speak it to yourself until it gets into your heart. When it gets into your heart, then it becomes your reasoning pattern. Let us take this scripture as an example. Take Psalm 107:17-20 on healing. After reading the condition of the Israelites and what they did when they were sick, He sent His word and healed them (20). I kept saying that to myself several times for several days until I saw my health and healing in the word of Scripture. He sends His word every time and I am healed.
Let us pray: Thank you father that your word heals. Help me to hear your healing word in Jesus name.
