We have heard it, and we have seen it with our eyes; yes, we have seen it, and our hands have touched it.” 1 John 1 : 1 GNT The Hausa people in Nigeria have a saying that is a true-life principle. When he is sick and you give him a medication or suggestion that will heal him, he will ask you “have you suffered from this before?” If you say yes, he will then ask you “did you use this and did it work?” If you answer yes, then he will collect it and use it too. This is how we are to handle the Word of life. The Word which has been from the beginning that we have heard, seen, handled and touched is what we shall proclaim to you so that you too can hear, see, handle and touch so you experience it and see that it works then spread it to others. May 31.            Choose you this day whom ye will serve. Joshua 24:15   In our natural body no one wants to be a servant, it is demeaning and disrespectful in the eyes of ordinary men. We feel humiliated when called to serve others, yet our Lord Jesus Christ who was divine accepted to come in the human body to serve and not to be served and to even die for us while serving us.   We have to be completely emptied out of self to be able to be a servant in service to others and especially unto the Lord. We must die to self; the spirit of pride must be nailed daily to the cross we carry so we can have the ability to serve others in and outside of God’s vineyard.      How difficult it is to serve others, to remove our clothes, tie a towel around our waist and wash the feet of our friends, our Lord Jesus Christ did it for those he already knew were going to betray him, deny him and disown him, they ran away soon after. May 30.   Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Joshua 1:9   Have you ever been commanded by anyone to be strong and courageous? Today you are hearing The Lord God Almighty telling you exactly what He told Joshua when he was leading the Israelites after the death of Moses. As you hear this command from our Lord, you are emboldened and you begin to listen and to know who your Commander is. There is a stirring in your spirit as doubts and fears disappear and the peace of the Holy Spirit envelopes you and you are energized to face the battle. Remember that when doubts and fear are present, we delay the hand of God to save us and deliver us from all evil. The prophets of old had their confidence in God and they did exploits, our God is the same today and our confidence in Him will deliver the enemy camp to us in victory.   Let Us Pray: Lord, we thank you for your love as you help, lead and guide us continually. May 29.   ……His only begotten son that whosoever believed in him will not die but will have everlasting life. John 3 :16b   A life that is everlasting is eternal, lasting forever, permanent and unending. This is a life that starts when we receive our salvation and ends with us living forever with God in heaven. He sets His love upon us before we were born. I can say that this verse is the heartbeat of the gospel. God’s love is immeasurable, it is sacrificial, it cost him the precious blood of his beloved Son. His love does not diminish, it does not fade away, it is everlasting. Through all the seasons of our lives, in victory, in failure and in our prodigal son life journey His love remains unchanged.   Our Lord God created the heavens and the earth and made us in His own image, us, mere mortals, this is awesome and makes us feel worthy of his grace. May 28.     Then the secret was revealed to Daniel in a vision of the night, and Daniel blessed the God of heaven. Daniel 2: vs19   You wake up one morning and your life story has been rewritten by a pagan king. You and your brethren have been captured and transported to a pagan country, you are embarrassing different tribe and tongue, you are confused and distraught. This is the story of Daniel a lad who with his friends were captured by king Nebuchadnezzar and taken to Babylon. Our Almighty God who is All Knowing has gone ahead to give his faithful servants the ability to cause unbelievers to appreciate them. Daniel served God despite being surrounded by pagans who tried to influence him. He refused food from the king’s table, lived on vegetables and looked better than those who feasted on the king’s table. The Lord said to Joshua, “See I have given Jericho into your hands, with its king and the mighty warriors.” - Josh 6:2 Knowing who our Father is gives us the blessed assurance of peace as we delve into his words. Our God’s ways are not our ways, he says that 1 + 1 equals 1, and there is no argument about that. The enemies of Israel, the king of the Amorites and the king of Canaan were already consumed with fear when they heard that the Lord had dried the Jordan river for the Israelites to cross over. When your enemies are consumed with fear, they have already lost the battle and victory is yours. The enemies had already given up hope, they were not worried about the foot soldiers nor their armour, they were worried about who their God is, a God who is victorious.   May 26. And God said, let there be light……Genesis 1 vs 3 The spoken word of our Almighty God in Genesis created the universe and everything therein. The earth was void and without form and darkness was upon the face of the deep and God spoke and the darkness disappeared. God’s words are active, creative, and carry the force that brings his authority into His divine plan for our daily living. The irresistible force of God’s words confirms that God’s words must achieve its purpose and never return void, Isaiah 55:11. There is nothing on earth that was not created by the spoken words of our God. The Lord continues to speak to us in His still small voice, through testimonies, through our dreams and through open revelations.   May 25.    And they found the stone rolled away. - Luke 24:2 There is a finality when someone dies and doubly so when he is interred and laid in his grave. This has been the tradition and so when Lazarus died and same when our Lord Jesus Christ was buried. Lazarus had died and had been buried for 4 days, the stone had been laid over his grave but when our Lord Jesus Christ called forth his name the power of death was destroyed! Hallelujah Matthew 27: 60, 65 & 66; tells us how the tomb of our Lord Jesus Christ was secured with the stone that was placed on it after his burial. Out of fear Pilate approved extra soldiers to watch over the tomb but ALAS there was an earthquake and an Angel of the Lord came and rolled away the stone. God’s words are yeah and amen and His words do not return to him void.   May 24. “And he said, The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer.” - 2 Sam 22:2 As we read the bible verse today, we are emboldened and encouraged knowing that The Lord we serve is our Rock, our Fortress and our Deliverer. In my mind’s eye I picture the fortresses built by mere mortals to protect themselves. Very recently, 2024-2025, the Chasiv Yar fortress in Ukraine was under intense attack by Russia. Our Omnipresent, Omnipotent and Omniscience God who knows the thoughts and the plans of our enemies is the only Rock that no one can attack. An old hymn tells us who our God is Rock Of Ages cleft for me. Let me hide myself in thee. He is our hiding place and our strong tower, no one can reach us as we are enclosed in his powerful presence. He tells us in Psalm 3:7 that He strikes ALL our enemies on the cheek and breaks their teeth. MAY 23.    Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to the house of Israel failed. - Joshua 21:45 Our Bible reference gives us the assurance of God’s faithfulness , trustworthiness and his ability to do whatever He says He will do. All God’s promises are Yes and Amen, 2 Corinthians 1:20. Words are powerful and his promises do not return void without achieving its purpose. This to us who believe and trust in him are not to worry or be anxious, nevertheless we must make an effort. We must live in obedience and be sensitive to God’s divine presence and the leading of the Holy Spirit. MAY 22. And David said to Saul, let no man’s heart fail because of him. - 1 Sam 17:32-33; 37 There are times in our lives when we encounter some situations and our courage fails us. Some unexpected mishaps, expectations that are not met. The ability to withstand such situations stem from our knowledge of our victorious God, the God who never fails. David was a shepherd boy, a young man of great courage who had singlehandedly killed a lion and a bear while shepherding his father’s flock. He is now facing a 9 feet tall Goliath who had defied the Israelites for 40 days, he needed all the courage and audacity to face the giant. The king’s armour was too heavy for him to wear, yet he was determined because he knew who his Father was. Which giant do you have before you? They may come as health issues, family problems, business challenges, financial issues, marital troubles, in whatever form you must be courageous.   MAY 21.      I AM YOUR SHEPHERD “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not want.” - Psalm 23:1 Many years ago, when I was taught this in my primary school days I had a very different understanding. I rewrote the verse by reading “The Lord is my Shepherd I shall want.” For sure this makes sense, with the Lord as our Shepherd who would not want more, he feeds us satisfactorily and I want more of Him. Today we wake up to the victorious God announcing to us that He is our Shepherd. Our life is a journey where we are guided by our seen and unseen shepherds, it is a long journey and as we step out we must know who our shepherd is. The word shepherd means to pasture, tend, feed and be a companion. The question is, Who is our Shepherd? Have we accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as our Shepherd? Psalm 139 vs 13 tells us that God knit us together and put us in our mother’s womb and Psalm 23 declares to us that The Lord is our Shepherd and we shall not want. He had nurtured u...

MAY 20. But lift thou up thy rod, and stretch out thine hand over the sea, and divide it. - Exodus 14:16. This morning The Lord is asking us a very valid question, as He asked Moses when he was receiving his mantle of leadership. I ask us today what is in our hands to do the work God has given us specifically? There was only one Moses who God had equipped ahead of time even before his encounter with God at the burning bush. There were others who God used in diverse ways to manifest his power. 1. Moses had a Shepherd’s rod. 2. The Widow had a small jar of oil. Elder Moses did not know what power he had in the rod he was holding. He had forgotten what happened when the snake came out before him and Aaron. Are you a ‘Moses’ with a powerful rod in your hand, laid back because of a pharaoh who is standing before you.   MAY 19.     Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:11 NIV . I have overcome the world is the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 16:33 but you will still have tribulations in the world!! As long as we live in the world, we will have our trials and temptations but we have the blessed assurance that He who knows the end from the beginning has equipped us to be overcomers with the power and grace poured into us for a time like this. From experience, we know that the day you give your life to our Lord Jesus Christ the enemy begins to roar like a lion. Fears, doubts, anxieties begin to creep in and you are at crossroads with the decision you have made to follow Jesus Christ. MAY 18. I have loved you with an everlasting love. - Jer. 31:3 Can we see God’s love for us in our Lord Jesus Christ? As we ponder over God’s everlasting love for us, we come to the realization that this is the only asset that we have that no one can take away from us. Why, because it has the signature of God, signed with the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, His ONLY SON who paid the price for God’s love for us. The love of God for us is not determined by our circumstances, by time or our actions. The love God has for us his children was established before time began, before the foundation of the earth, Ephesians 1:4-5.   DAY 17.      Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. Whoever comes to me will never go hungry, and whoever believes in me will never be thirsty. - John 6:35 NIV . Bread has become the staple food all over the world today. From leavened bread, to Sourdough to unleavened bread, bread is bread and it speaks the same language to us all, it feeds our hunger. Before now our Lord Jesus was trying to get away from the huge crowd, he crossed the Sea of Galilee yet they followed Him. He knew that He was going to feed them but this was his chance to test the faith of Philip. How are we going to feed these people he asked Philip, his answer displayed his little faith when he said that it was IMPOSSIBLE to feed the crowd even with a year’s income. The miracle of feeding the 5000 with plenty leftovers occurred, the crowd still followed for the free food.   MAY 16.      Train up the child in the way he should go. – Prov. 22:6 Physical walking is a way of life; parents nurture their child expecting him to walk at the right time. Some children take a longer time while some walk earlier than others. This is the same principle in the Spiritual Walk with our Lord Jesus Christ. The decision to follow a spiritual pathway comes with a conviction in our spirit to feed the emptiness that we feel in our souls.  The Lord Jesus Christ is our choice for a deeper communion with God; He is the only way through which we can see the light. There is a hunger that can only be fulfilled through the building up of our faith. Our spiritual growth leads us to a life of separation from things of the world, from friends and even families. We have to pay a price for the separation, rejection, abandonment and the loneliness that follows our decision to follow the spiritual pathway.   MAY 15. “ Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.   Matthew 7:13-14 NIV . . Walking is something you do decisively and intentionally because you will need to plan your pathway. When you decide to go on a spiritual walk you are responding to a call to follow and you will need to know who your guide is, someone who knows the way you have chosen to follow. A spiritual walk is completely different from an ordinary walk, this walk is dependent on God and a deep communion with Him leading to a life of holiness. Deep communion is achieved by walking in the same direction together by trusting your guide. However, there are guidelines to follow, firstly a daily obedience to your guide’s instructions. MAY 14. Nothing is impossible with God. Luke 1:37. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. All things are possible to him who believes. As we affirm these words from the scripture we come to the realization of God’s power and sovereignty. We must believe that He is who He says that He is and in believing we are awakened to the authority and the power of the Creator of the Universe. Sometimes we may be struggling to open a bottle of water, seemingly an easy chore, someone else opens it for us with such ease and we wonder why we could not open it. Those are the times God shows up when simple things become very difficult. When we ponder on the words of the scripture we can find the answers to challenges, big and small, simple and hard. The word of God comes alive and we begin to apply His words to our situations and his promises come alive to us.   MAY 13.   And if anyone competes as an athlete he is not crowned unless he competes according to the rules. - 2 Tim 2:5. As human beings we are guided by rules and regulations in our daily living and in the society, we live in. Anyone who has been brought up with no rules and regulations is usually very self-centred and difficult in their ways. When athletes are getting ready for a tournament they engage in very vigorous training sessions. Most of them watch their weight, spend sleepless nights training individually and collectively as required. They obey the rules and regulations set out for them by their coach who they look up to for guidance. They get regimented and they give their best to win the race, they are also aware that there are other contenders for the trophy. Athletes do not receive the victor’s crown except by competing according to the rules. We as believers must live by the rules and regulations stipulated by our Lord Jesus Christ in the scriptures. ...

  MAY 12.    And David inquired of the Lord, “Shall I pursue after this band? -1 Sam 30:8;   David was described as the man after God’s own heart and it is a well-deserved honour. David had just been rejected by the philistines whose army he had wanted to join in fighting their enemy. The Lord God had set him up for a battle to defeat the Amalekites who had burnt down Ziglak, taking many captives including his two wives. David asked God for guidance and God gave him the divine assurance that he would overtake the enemy and recover all that was lost. He was encouraged and he took immediate action knowing and believing in the God he served. He had the guarantee that nothing would be missing and he made a complete recovery of all that was lost. MAY 11.    Joshua 23:6; Deuteronomy 11:8; 31:6-7; Acts 14: 1-7 Courage means to hold on very strongly and firmly. We stumble at different times in our lifetime. As a toddler learning how to walk, in old age when the muscles are weak and tired we stumble sometimes as we walk. The psalmist says “Your Word is a light to my feet, and a light to my path”. When we know God’s Word we are able to apply the Word and the power and the authority in the Word guides our paths and we will not stumble. Our Lord Jesus Christ was tempted when he had fasted for 40 days and 40 nights in preparation for his ministry. He rebuffed the evil one by quoting the scriptures, this demonstrates that the Word of God is a weapon against the evil one. We are victorious as we equip ourselves with God’s Word, we memorize, process and apply the Word to the challenges we encounter on a daily basis.   MAY 10.   "And hope maketh not ashamed, because the love of God …" Romans 5:3-4.   Waiting time is never a wasted time, it is the time that has been built into a purpose. Sometimes the waiting time is not out of your own choice but circumstances have made it necessary for you to wait.   As we look at all the people who had waited for things to happen in the bible, we begin to see the waiting times as active, purposeful times designed to build up our faith, our character and our endurance. There is the element of hope that whatever you are waiting for with absolute confidence will meet all your expectations.   From the Old Testament to the New Testament, we encounter periods of waiting. We discover that God’s timing is completely different from our own timing and expectations.   Waiting is not a time of putting your hands under your chin and remaining inactive and announcing to all that you are waiting on the Lord for something.
