Giving Thanks

Image
October 30    GIVING THANKS   Luke 17: 11-19 Most of us do not understand the concept of giving thanks for gifts we receive. Thanksgiving is the act of giving thanks, being grateful, acknowledgment of benefits or favors especially to our God. It is an active word, an expression of the state of your mind when you have received a gift, maybe not an expected favor. Today, from our Bible reference we are looking at the story we are very familiar with. We all have heard of the ten lepers who were healed by our Lord Jesus Christ and ONLY one came to acknowledge the awesome gift that he had received, he came to say thank you. Most times we acknowledge the blessing and forget the one who blessed us. Why, I may ask? This is seen when we hear people say “I am a self-made man,” please from where to where?  For us to receive gifts or anything from anyone we must have a relationship with the person. There are many gifts God has given us which we have taken for gr...

The Lord Is My Strength

Image
October 29   The Lord Is My Strength            Psalm 54:4–“Surely God is my help; the Lord is the one who sustains me.”         As we continue to read our bible, we shall continue to pray 🙏🏾 to the Holy Spirit for guidance. He will give us the Bible passages to meet our daily needs and to guide us to the Truth -Our Lord Jesus Christ himself. Our life’s journey is premised upon what God has planned for us, we have the responsibility to accept the totality of it all. “ He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High, shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” For us to abide in the Lord’s presence, we must have a relationship with Him, we are not passing by, we know Him and He has made room for us. God is our Creator and He will carry us, He will sustain us and rescue us from all evil. In sustaining us, we are leaning and drawing our strength from our Creator, He ensures that we are standing strong a...

Me and My Bible

Image
October 28       Me And My Bible           God has written us a letter and is waiting for an answer. Have you received your own letter? This letter is the greatest letter, the greatest gift that you can ever receive. The letter is a big one which you cannot finish reading in a day, not even in a week. The letter has your name, your street and your house number. You are chosen so your letter has been signed and delivered to you by your Maker.  Psalm 139:1-4 “Thou knowest my down sitting and mine uprising, thou understandest my thoughts afar off. Thou compasseth my path and my lying down. Thou hast beset me behind and before.” This is part of the letter we have in our hands, God is telling us that He is very much aware of our everyday physical actions (sitting and standing) plus our inner thoughts from afar. God knows us individually and knows our ways and every word we speak before it reaches our thoughts and our tong...

Not By Bread Alone

Image
October 27 Matthew 4:4– “ Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God” This bible verse was quoted by our Lord Jesus Christ when he was tempted by the devil to turn stones into bread after fasting for 40 days in the desert. The devil comes to us when we are weak and vulnerable, tempting us to bow to him, we must resist him so he can flee from us. The only armor we have to make him flee from us is God’s word which we wear as our shield. Physical food will sustain our bodies for a while but the SPIRITUAL nourishment, faith, trust, belief and obedience to God are the key to a sustainable life in God.  Our reliance on God for our daily living, relying on His word and His companionship will feed us physically, spiritually and mentally. In Deuteronomy 8:3 God made the Israelites hungry so that He would feed them with food they didn’t know about. He fed them with a strange food, manna, in the wilderness to teach them of total reliance ...

Do You Understand What You Are Reading

Image
October 26      Do You Understand What You Are Reading                 On Paul’s missionary journey, he encountered different kinds of believers, he met the Berean christians who checked the scriptures with the words that they heard. In Acts 17:11 he had the opportunity to praise them for eagerness and openness to the word of God. “ These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily,  whether those things were so.” Every day we need to set aside some time to be alone with God, devote some time to study the bible. In reading and studying the bible we hear God speaking to us,we get to know the truth as the Bereans searched the bible for the truth. Knowing the truth will set us free from sin and sorrow, leading us into having an intimate relationship with our Lord Jesus Christ. As we spend time in the Word of God, we are ...

Me And My Letter

Image
October 25      Me And My Letter        Yesterday we received letters from our Father in Heaven, surely out of excitement we started reading the letters immediately. The letters we have in our hands are written in two different segments, the Old and the New. We can start reading from any part we want, the message is about one person, the Author and Finisher of our faith, our Lord Jesus Christ who is our Creator and our sustainer.  I opened my own letter randomly and I found myself reading Psalm 18:29  and I realized that truly, this letter was written to me specifically. I want to share what this verse is telling me. Psalm 18:29– “ For by thee I have run through a troop; and by my God have I leaped over a wall.” What exactly does this passage mean to me? I realize that the times I come out victorious from overwhelming physical and spiritual challenges, it is because God has stood by me and empowered the efforts that gave me victory. Scaling ...

The Snare Of Foolishness

Image
October 23  The Snare Of Foolishness             Proverbs 18:7  “A fool’s mouth is his ruin, and his lips are a snare to his soul.”  The book of Proverbs is telling us that when our speeches and words are uttered without control, with no decency, without any considerations, we are led to self destruction. “……….. Out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh.” Matthew 12:34. The mouth speaks what has been stored in the heart and this reveals our deepest thoughts, character and what we believe in. When our heart is full, it pours out what it has been fed with. The vile words begin to flow from our mouths and we are not able to control them, our focus is on our victim and we loose all our sensitivity.  What are we feeding our body, soul and our spirit from our thoughts? Today, we are looking at some of the things that knowingly or unknowingly lead us into folly and sinfulness. Some of us are wearing masks but the wa...

We were like those who dream

Image
October 22    We were like those who dream             “Psalm 126:2 “When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dreamed.” What an amazing feeling for a wonderful restoration when it is least expected. We wake up from a dream into a reality, suddenly a wonderful overwhelming change has occurred. Our friends, our family and our community are in awe of what is happening, they can hardly believe it is real, seems as if you have woken up inside a happy dream.  You burst into a song of praise as Nathaniel Bassey sang, 🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶 See what The Lord has done.  See what The Lord has done. What we waited for… Has come to pass…. See what The Lord has done. When we have lived in captivity and suddenly we are released from prison like Joseph, we are like those who dream. Joseph was imprisoned, he helped fellow prisoners interpret their dreams that came to pass, yet they forgot about him. On the day The Lo...

Steadfast Love Never Ceases

Image
October 21      His Steadfast Love Never Ceases           “The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end”….Lamentations 3:22-23   This is a well known bible passage from the Old Testament written at the time of suffering in Jerusalem by Prophet Jeremiah who is known as the weeping prophet.  This bible verse was popularized by Edith McNeil as a worship song in 1974 and widely song in different churches. The love of God our Father for us his children does not change. His love for us is active, it is a life long love that is everlasting and unconditional. He watches over us as a mother hen watches over her chicks. The bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 16:9 “ For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him.” 1) Are we under His watch, yes, our hearts have to be perfect towards Him to receive all...

What Is Man That You Are Mindful Of Him

Image
October 20.   What Is Man That You Are Mindful Of Him           This is a verse from king David’s psalm, Psalm 8:4 in the Bible. King David is in awe of all that God created by himself, human beings, the moon and the stars, the universe and much more, he observes that the human beings are small in comparison to all that He created, yet God remembers, cares and thinks about all of his creation and loves the human beings He created.  At creation, God spoke all creation into existence except man, He spent 6 days speaking the elements, the food crops and the cash crops, all the animals on land, in the sea and in the air into being. He designed and built the garden of Eden, equipped it with all that man needed to live a very comfortable life. He created Adam from dust to give him a form and He put his breath into him and he became a man. God made him in his own likeness and image and put him in the beautiful garden He had created for him. G...

My Life Is In Your Hands

Image
October 19  My Life Is In Your Hands             🎶 My life is in You, Lord. My strength is in You, Lord  My hope is in You, Lord  In You, it’s in You. The chorus of a song written by Daniel Gardner in 1986 is an affirmation of what our life in God is.  When as believers we declare that our life is in God we confirm what the scripture says in Acts 17:28- “ For in Him we live and move and have our being.” We have come to the realization that God is the giver of life, we do not have the ability to sustain our own lives, the life we live is a gift from God.  Every move that we make, the strength and our actions are dependent on God’s power and his grace mete out to us on a daily basis. We cannot do anything in our own strength, God is our strength and our sustainer. We are made in God’s own image, so we have our being made by Him. His image that we carry makes us be like Him, dependent on Him,  gives us the ability to ...

Behold The Faith-Vision

Image
October 18    Behold The Faith-Vision            “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”   Hebrew 11:1 The faith-vision is the evidence we have of things yet to be seen, the feeling of the full satisfaction of plenty. We begin to see the store houses of God full to overflowing, available to us to take all that we need. We need to strongly and faithfully behold the full storehouse of God in our minds eye before it can materialize.  What do we need from The Lord today, let us behold it in our faith-vision and The Lord will supply us with all of our needs. Many years ago, very close to Christmas, I said to The Lord in my heart, “Lord, yet another Christmas and no gift for me.” I went out for our weekly Women’s prayer meeting, I had forgotten about my thoughts. Halfway through the meeting, my daughter was calling me repeatedly, someone had sent me a gift of a handbag, someone I knew...

My Help… Comes From The Lord

Image
October 17.      My Help… Comes From The Lord                 “I will lift up my eyes to the hills, from where cometh my help.” Psalm 121:1 The psalmist goes on to tell us where his help comes from, vs 2 says “ My help comes from the Lord, which made heaven and earth .” This ascribes power, supremacy and authority to our Lord who is enthroned in heaven, with the earth as his footstool.  Are we in need of help?, let us lift up our eyes and our hearts to The Lord, He is the answer to our cry for help. What help do we need? He is our Jehovah Rapha, our Jehovah Jireh, our Jehovah Shalom, our Omnipresent, Omnipotent and our Omniscience God, He will give us the help that we desire. Are we struggling with some addiction, alcohol, gambling and some other bad behaviors? We cannot enjoy the life that our Lord Jesus Christ has given us, without His help. In Matthew 5:33- He says “ Come unto me all ye who are heavy laden a...

There Is Healing In Your Name……….3

Image
October 16         There Is Healing In Your Name……….3              Today is the day that the Lord has made and we are glad and we rejoice in it. This is from a joyful heart expressing God’s love and mercy at the crack of dawn. The light of day is streaming in as the sun rises and our spirit is filled with gratitude to our creator who has given us the opportunity to witness this day. “Oh! What a beautiful morning! Oh what a beautiful day…. I have a feeling…. everything is going my way.” This is a popular Frank Sinatra song that declares that everything will go his way!! God’s plan for us is exactly that, when you have the conviction in your spirit that God is in control, everything will go His way for us. Times and seasons are in His hands, days, weeks, years belong to the Creator of the universe. He knows what our situation is, let us put our trust in Him, believing and knowing that His timing is perfect and that ...

There Is Healing In Your Name

Image
October 14.    There Is Healing In Your Name                “ In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Acts 3:6 What an amazing encounter for a lame man whose thoughts were far from walking again. He was about his business of asking for alms at the gate of the temple, known by many who dropped money at his feet with no thoughts of praying for his healing. “ Silver and gold have I none but in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk,” was   the response from Peter. Was the man disappointed, possibly, but on this very day he encountered the power in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Two things are glaring in this encounter with Peter, in the healing process, he had the responsibility to rise up. His faith, trust and belief in the words of Peter was at play in his ability to rise and walk. Secondly, his time of healing had come, an answer to the many prayers that may have been offered on h...

LET US PRAY

Image
October 13      LET US PRAY               “The prayer of the righteous availeth much” James 5:16b In the legal world, there is a saying, “ He who comes to equity must come with clean hands”, even the world knows this. If anyone seeking justice has committed illegal acts connected to that case , the court will deny him hearing.  This same premise applies with the case of a man praying before God. He must confess his sins and be free of all unrighteousness. The first part of James 5:16a says  “ Confess your sins to each other so that you may be healed ”. When we confess our sins it means that there is an inner transformation, something has shifted in our lives and we are not ashamed of declaring with our mouth that Jesus is Lord. About 2 years ago the Holy Spirit dropped two words into my spirit, “forgiveness of sin and resurrection of the body”. I knew that this was part of the Apostle’s Creed, but I didn’t understan...

WE ARE VISITING THE LORD WITH PRAISE

Image
October 12    WE ARE VISITING THE LORD WITH PRAISE             “ We will enter His gate…..”Psalm 100:4 Today is a very special day for we have come to The Lord’s gate with our parents, grandparents, children, grandchildren, friends, families and all our neighbors.  Lord, we declare and we sing at your gate. 🎶 We will enter your gate with thanksgiving in our hearts. We will enter your gate with praise, we will say this is the day that The Lord has made and we will rejoice for He has made us glad. Psalm 100:4  We are entering our God’s gate with thanksgiving in our hearts. We are overjoyed with gratitude in our hearts and we have come to sing his praise with our families and friends. God, you have been our Good Shepherd and we appreciate you, you have protected us and provided for us, we are saying thank you. The bummer ewes amongst us you have taken care of, wrapped in your love, we have come to say thank you. Our worship to ...

THE HOUR OF PRAYER…2

Image
October 10.   THE HOUR OF PRAYER…2               There are many songs and hymns that we sing about prayers in many different languages. Most times we do not need to understand the language to appreciate the power expressed in the words of the prayer. When we think about the words of the prayers, our thoughts are removed from worries and fears and we are transformed and emboldened. We engage our spirit mind with the supernatural and we come alive to the power of our prayers and we succumb to the leading of the Holy Spirit.        Prayer is the key, prayer is the master key that gains us entry into the doors that The Lord has opened for us. This happens because we are aligned with the spirit of God and we are stirred up in our spirit with the indwelling Holy Spirit  giving us the words to express our desires in our prayers. This brings an awakening and the clarity of purpose to our prayers.    Matt...

THE HOUR OF PRAYER

Image
October 9.     THE HOUR OF PRAYER               Let us pray! Shall we pray! These words to our ears requires us to quieten our body soul and spirit as we pray. We bow down our heads and our hearts or we kneel down as we pray to a supreme Lord in whose presence we are in. There is a silence as we harken our hearts to the prayers being heard, we absorb the essence of the prayers and we agree as we say our Amen to it. There are questions that arise as we pray, are we really praying, do we understand the power of praying? Sometimes as we listen to someone else praying, there is a need for us to listen intentionally so we can understand the message in the prayers. We may miss the trend of the prayers if we are not stilled in our hearts.  As we look at the scriptures we come to the understanding of what The Lord taught us in Luke 22:46. “Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation ”. As believers we are required to be...

LET THE EARTH BE SILENT

Image
October 8   LET THE EARTH BE SILENT             “ The Lord is in his holy temple;  let all the earth be silent before him”. We have moved away from The God who spoke to us to the same God who wants us to be silent before him. He wants  ALL the earth to be silent before him, there is no different time zone for Him, no exemption, wherever you are be silent before the Lord. The silence He requires is the deafening silence, you can bow down, you can sit down but you must be silent. What are your thoughts as you obey your God?    Let us be still and know that He is God, psalm 46:10 , He is seated on his throne and He needs our attention for what He wants to do. The way we cannot serve two masters at the same time, in the same way we need to be still and remain silent. God wants to speak to our inner mind, he wants us to hear him, he does not want his words to fall to the ground empty.  “ And when he had...

THE LIGHT THAT SURPRISES

Image
October 7.   THE LIGHT THAT SURPRISES         🎶” Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while he sings” is the opening line of a well known hymn written by William Cowper in 1779.                 The writer of this hymn is telling us Christians about the light that surprises us believers while we sing hymns and psalms to The Lord from our hearts. The songs and hymns that we sing up to our God are meaningful and He acts on them as we see in the second verse.  “It is the Lord who rises with healing in his wings”, this is the second line of the hymn which reveals to us the power of singing hymns in praise of the Lord. The hymn we sing to our Lord brings us an answer, He sends healing through the angels. Most of the hymns are prayers from bible verses that are very inspiring to listen to. “Malachi 4:2 says “But for you who fear my name, the sun of righteousness shall rise with healing in its wi...

NO WORD RETURNS EMPTY

Image
October 6                 Matthew 24:35 When fathers speak to their children, they expect the words that they speak to return to them with effective results. When God speaks to us his children He speaks knowing and trusting that in hearing him,  His words will yield fruits of obedience, and be impactful. At some point in time, God is watching, waiting and expecting his children to respond to what they have heard him say. We must be good listeners to hear what God is saying and to be able to react positively to it. In our world today, there are too many distractions seeking our attention, too much information that are not necessarily of any use to us. The IT industry is congested with plentiful DIY apps, they are hardly of any use, they are mere distractions. We need to keep our focus on God and be intentional as we seek to hear and understand what He is telling us. Our Father will speak in the language we understand. In Act...

GOD IS THE ANSWER

Image
October 4.     GOD IS THE ANSWER             Jesus is the answer. He is the  only way to God the Father, there is no other way. He alone is the symbol of the true and powerful message of God to us who believe, -John 14:6 The Lord says,  “ I am the Resurrection and the Life” “I am the Way to my Father. I am The beginning and the end. I am the Light of the World.  I am the Bread Of Life, whosoever eats of me will hunger no more”. As believers, Jesus Christ is the the only answer to all that God has been saying to us even up to now. Our Lord Jesus gives us spiritual life that has no end as he prepares us for eternity. His sacrifice on the cross is purposefully for our salvation and to yield abundant fruits for God’s kingdom.  What have you heard so far? What do they mean to us? Can we apply them to our daily lives? Our relationship with our God is customized to guide us with our life journey, different from anyone...

THEN GOD SAID……..3

Image
October 3    THEN GOD SAID……..3             Genesis 1: 11-12 As we hear what God has said and done at the beginning of creation, we begin to see that our daily living has been structured by God himself, providing all that we need for a good lifestyle to meet his purpose.       The sequence of events as we see at the beginning demonstrates the thought process of our God. He had taken into consideration all that we needed, we wouldn’t have known about our need for light or for water. Our Creator who knows our needs before we consider them provided all that we need at the beginning of time. He knows all that we need even now, we must live a life totally dependent on Him.  1) “Let there be light”, we definitely need light so that the darkness that surrounds us must disappear. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Light of the world and we need his Light to shine through our lives, for the benefit of others.  2) ...

THEN GOD SAID...2

Image
October 2.    THEN GOD SAID….. 2 “Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let the dry land appear.” Gen 1 vs 9 As God spoke, the elements obeyed Him. At the sound of His voice, the waters gathered together to make space for the dry land to appear. When we watch the tides rise, we see the force that lifts up the waters to an amazing height. The power of our God is on display for us to comprehend that there are no generators moving the waters, ONLY the power in God’s spoken words. Today begins with us understanding the essence of hearing what God is saying to us. Can you hear the movement of the waters that He has spoken to in your life? Are you seeing the dry land that He has created for you as an escape route for you? Like the Israelites running for their dear lives, and the Red Sea was lifted for them to escape from their enemies. Our God is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore. His words are the same, speaking li...
