WHEN EXISTING TOGETHER BECOMES PERPETUAL WAR
June 24. WHEN EXISTING TOGETHER BECOMES PERPTUAL WAR
And there was a strife between the herdmen of Abram's cattle and the herdmen of Lot's cattle: and the Canaanite and the Perizzite dwelled then in the land.
And Abram said unto Lot, Let there be no strife, I pray thee, between me and thee, and between my herdmen and thy herdmen; for we be brethren. Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself, I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. Genesis 13:7-9 KJV
We face situations like the above in many nations of the world in recent times. While few are resolved without war and blood shed, most involve wars and blood shed with lots of destruction of property.
When Abram and Lot parted ways peacefully, there was no bitterness and Abram was able to rescue Lot from enemies’ attacks and God even heard Abram’s intercession to spare Lot when He was going to destroy Sodom.
When nations and individuals can agree to part peacefully rather than live in war to damage themselves for any reason at all, then peaceful separation will make peaceful existence possible.
Let leaders of nations see this example of Abram and Lot to pursue dialogue and peace when there is agitation within their people to be freed.
Let Us Pray:
Dear Father, I pray for countries where there is agitation for separation that it will be done peacefully to avoid loss of innocent life. Teach us, Lord, to choose peace over war.
