Steadfast Love Never Ceases
October 21 His Steadfast Love Never Ceases
“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end”….Lamentations 3:22-23
This is a well known bible passage from the Old Testament written at the time of suffering in Jerusalem by Prophet Jeremiah who is known as the weeping prophet.
This bible verse was popularized by Edith McNeil as a worship song in 1974 and widely song in different churches.
The love of God our Father for us his children does not change. His love for us is active, it is a life long love that is everlasting and unconditional. He watches over us as a mother hen watches over her chicks. The bible tells us in 2 Chronicles 16:9 “ For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong on behalf of them whose heart is perfect towards him.”
1) Are we under His watch, yes, our hearts have to be perfect towards Him to receive all his benefits.
As His eyes go to and fro we are in His radar, and He sees and knows all that we are doing. His roaming eyes are looking for those who are fully loyal, devoted to him so He can show his power on their behalf. This is the time our faith, our trust and our commitment to Him are tested.
Are we deserving of His ceaseless steadfast love, the love He has for those who truly believe and put their trust in him. His love is the birthright of those whose hearts are stayed on Him.
Isaiah 26:3 says “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on you, because they trust in you.” This means that we are constantly and consciously focusing on our God, not minding our problems. We have the calmness in our spirit that we are anchored and stayed focused on our faithful God who loves us eternally. God himself gives us a deep unbroken sense of security as our thoughts are actively stayed on Him. Vs 4 tells us that our God is the “everlasting rock”, He remains steadfast as a rock when our life’s circumstances are unstable. When we talk about God’s steadfast love that never ceases, it behoves us to pray ceaselessly so we can receive of Him as His eyes go to and fro the earth. 1Thessalonians 5:17
Let Us Pray:Our Lord we thank you for the ceaseless love you have for us. May you find us stayed in you as your eyes go to and fro the earth. May you find us focused on You we pray in Jesus’s name.
