LET THE EARTH BE SILENT

October 8   LET THE EARTH BE SILENT

“The Lord is in his holy temple;  let all the earth be silent before him”.

We have moved away from The God who spoke to us to the same God who wants us to be silent before him. He wants  ALL the earth to be silent before him, there is no different time zone for Him, no exemption, wherever you are be silent before the Lord. The silence He requires is the deafening silence, you can bow down, you can sit down but you must be silent. What are your thoughts as you obey your God?

Let us be still and know that He is God, psalm 46:10, He is seated on his throne and He needs our attention for what He wants to do. The way we cannot serve two masters at the same time, in the same way we need to be still and remain silent. God wants to speak to our inner mind, he wants us to hear him, he does not want his words to fall to the ground empty.

“And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven, for about half an hour”-Rev 8:1. Can we remain silent before our Lord for 30 minutes? If we can remain silent in the hospital, in the courtroom, in the church, we can definitely keep silent before our Maker. Remaining silent before the Lord can be in the form of a meditation with the Holy Spirit who is our guide, our teacher and our counselor.

We have come into the hour of silence, our spirit mind is communicating with our Lord in the deafening sound of His presence. Our Lord wants to speak in a still small voice as he spoke to prophet Elijah who was running away from Jezebel.
There is no hiding place, The Lord God of heaven and the earth wants to speak to us, he knows what we are going through and He wants to speak into our situations. Let us be silent before Him so that we can hear his still small voice. He knew the fears of prophet Elijah who had done exploits for Him, he felt abandoned and became afraid of Jezebel. When Elijah heard God’s small voice he covered his face with his cloak and stepped out of the cave and listened to God. This tells us that God’s awesome presence and his small voice must have overwhelmed prophet Elijah and he hid his face. Wherever God speaks his presence goes before him. The Israelites could not bear to be in the presence of God when he invited them into his presence, they begged Moses to go in their stead. The Israelites could not face Moses because he was overcome with God’s presence. Our sinful nature deters us, like Adam and Eve who hid themselves in the garden of Eden, because they had sinned against God.

We are in God’s plan, He walks with us all the way, to achieve his expected purpose and the end for us. May our sins not deter us from hearing the still small voice and being in His awesome presence. Let us all listen fervently in the silence of God’s presence.

Let us pray: Our Heavenly Father, we pray to remain silent as you speak to us. May your presence be a delight to our body, soul and spirit as you permeate our hearts with your love and kindness. Amen 🙏🏾
