THE HOUR OF PRAYER

October 9.    THE HOUR OF PRAYER

Let us pray! Shall we pray!
These words to our ears requires us to quieten our body soul and spirit as we pray. We bow down our heads and our hearts or we kneel down as we pray to a supreme Lord in whose presence we are in. There is a silence as we harken our hearts to the prayers being heard, we absorb the essence of the prayers and we agree as we say our Amen to it.

There are questions that arise as we pray, are we really praying, do we understand the power of praying? Sometimes as we listen to someone else praying, there is a need for us to listen intentionally so we can understand the message in the prayers. We may miss the trend of the prayers if we are not stilled in our hearts.

As we look at the scriptures we come to the understanding of what The Lord taught us in Luke 22:46. “Rise and pray that you may not enter into temptation”. As believers we are required to be pray-full lest we fall into temptation from the enemy lurking around us, seeking for who to devour.

Some of us have set times for our prayers and this is helpful for orderliness. The beauty of prayer is that we can pray anywhere at any time. Are you standing in a queue, make it a time of prayer. Are you seated in an aircraft, make it a time to pray, are you in the hospital, make it a time to pray. Apostle Paul tells us to pray without ceasing in
1 Thessalonians 5:17. However, we are not expected to kneel in a spot for 24 hours, it means living a  life of God consciousness and having a dialogue with God through our normal daily activities. We must remain connected and focused to our God as we go about our daily lives.

Prayer is the souls sincere desire, uttered or unexpressed is the first line of a hymn that we all pray. The prayers we offer to the world and to the unbelievers are seen in our words and our deeds. May we remember that our lifestyle is a prayer to all who see us.

Let Us Pray:
We thank you our awesome Father who equipped us firstly with “Our Lord’s Prayer” a template of our daily prayer. Guide us oh Lord to live a life of prayer so we can draw men unto your kingdom.
