LET US PRAY
October 13 LET US PRAY
“The prayer of the righteous availeth much” James 5:16b
In the legal world, there is a saying, “ He who comes to equity must come with clean hands”, even the world knows this. If anyone seeking justice has committed illegal acts connected to that case , the court will deny him hearing.
This same premise applies with the case of a man praying before God. He must confess his sins and be free of all unrighteousness. The first part of James 5:16a says
“Confess your sins to each other so that you may be healed”. When we confess our sins it means that there is an inner transformation, something has shifted in our lives and we are not ashamed of declaring with our mouth that Jesus is Lord.
About 2 years ago the Holy Spirit dropped two words into my spirit, “forgiveness of sin and resurrection of the body”. I knew that this was part of the Apostle’s Creed, but I didn’t understand what the Holy Spirit wanted to teach me, so I asked and I received the understanding. Without confessing your sins you cannot receive forgiveness. The confession and forgiveness give us the right to the resurrection of our bodies and the life everlasting. This is an eye opener to the healing we have when we confess our sins and receive the forgiveness. When we do not obey what God says about confessing our sins our prayers become ineffective, so let us pray is a waste of time.
Prov 28:13 notes that whoever conceals their sins does not prosper, but the person who confesses and turns away from them receives mercy. We remain dead to our sins, we are unable to receive spiritual guidance from our Lord Jesus Christ. These are the times we are unable to pray, unable to read our bibles, we begin to dodge church activities.
“Let us pray” is the time of a private person to person conversation with our Lord. God is listening to your supplications and deals with them as He deems right. Let our prayer time be the time we come to our God, completely emptied out of our self and all unforgiveness.
Let us pray: Our Heavenly Father, our prayers are lifted up to you as we continue to obey your commands. Today, we have the understanding of your word, forgiveness of sin and resurrection of the body.
