THE WORD
June 1.
“We
write to you about the Word of life, which has existed from the very beginning.
We have heard it, and we have seen it with our eyes; yes, we have seen it, and
our hands have touched it.” 1 John
1:1
GNT
The
Hausa people in Nigeria have a saying that is a true-life principle. When he is
sick and you give him a medication or suggestion that will heal him, he will
ask you “have you suffered from this before?” If you say yes, he will then ask
you “did you use this and did it work?” If you answer yes, then he will collect
it and use it too. This is how we are to handle the Word of life.
The
Word which has been from the beginning that we have heard, seen, handled and
touched is what we shall proclaim to you so that you too can hear, see, handle
and touch so you experience it and see that it works then spread it to others.
Just
as the medication in the hand cannot heal unless you swallow it, the Word
cannot benefit you unless you process it. To process the word, you must hear it
by reading what is written. Then you must see it by meditating or thinking of
it to give you understanding, then you can handle and touch it by doing what
you understand.
Let
us pray: My God and my Father, help me to incline my heart to your word.
Reveal yourself to me as I process your word in Jesus name.
