WALKING THE SPIRITUAL WAY (3)

 


MAY 19.   

Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. Ephesians 6:11 NIV.

I have overcome the world is the promise of our Lord Jesus Christ in John 16:33 but you will still have tribulations in the world!!

As long as we live in the world, we will have our trials and temptations but we have the blessed assurance that He who knows the end from the beginning has equipped us to be overcomers with the power and grace poured into us for a time like this.

From experience, we know that the day you give your life to our Lord Jesus Christ the enemy begins to roar like a lion. Fears, doubts, anxieties begin to creep in and you are at crossroads with the decision you have made to follow Jesus Christ. Similarly, when you decide to fast for spiritual cleansing, the pangs of hunger are at its peak and your stomach will begin to rumble. This is a distraction that depletes your energy and your determination to offer a fast, to pray fervently and to do good deeds. I remember many years ago when we had a lot of young children begging on the streets on Lagos Island. I had decided that they were not deserving of my alms because they wore simple makeup, not as landish as today’s makeup. My spirit was rebuked, I heard The Lord saying to me “they dress up as you do to go to work, and the poor will always remain in your midst., “I quickly repented.

Our Bible ref tells us about the armour of God; these are defensive armours that deter the enemy as we face them. We must face the enemy frontally with the armours we have been armed with. He who is in you is greater than he who is of the world. The armour we bear is for our Righteousness, Faith, Salvation, the Word and Peace. These are all for our benefits, will you wear the armour of God and nothing else?

Let Us Pray: We thank you Lord for equipping us for the time the enemy comes roaring at us. Grant us the grace to believe in you and to trust in the armour we are carrying.

WHO IS GOD TO YOU

  MAY 2.     Deuteronomy 6:4 Our God is an Amazing, Awesome God, The Creator of Heaven and the Earth, There is no one like Him, none to compare with Him, yes He is a perfect God. He is greater than all that he created, unlimited in nature, infinite and he is the God in three persons.   As you are dressed up to go out of your home, you are attired in all that God created including you yourself. Your clothes are made from cotton, silk, your shoes are made from animal skin, your perfume comes from natural oils, your jewellery comes from metals that are found in layers of soil. HOPE IN THE WORLD

  MAY 3.      Romans:5: 4-5   Hope is not wishful thinking; hope is like making a long wish-list and waiting in great anticipation for each of the things you wished for to come through. You will find yourself marking off all the ones that God has answered.   On who are you hinging your hope on? My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and righteousness; this is the line of a very popular hymn that we all know. Is it true for you, can you let go and know that He who you hope on will not disappoint you. The faith that our hope has in God is the hope that does not disappoint, it transforms our suffering into endurance and our expectations into joy. This is the hope that all faithful believers enjoy, they have peace with God and they feel very secured.
