WHEN GOD ‘FAILS’ YOU

Image
July 29.    WHEN GOD ‘FAILS’ YOU Here’s what Yahweh says to you: “I know all about the marvelous destiny I have in store for you, a future planned out in detail. My intention is not to harm you but to surround you with peace and prosperity and to give you a beautiful future, glistening with hope. Jeremiah 29:11 TPT Do you trust God with the whole of your being and things seem not to work as you plan it? I congratulate you. Many people have been there before including your very own me. It is so painful, frustrating and disappointing. God has a message for you today. Jeremiah 29:11 is your message. Will you believe Him? He has a marvelous destiny planned out for you. Remember Joseph! He had a destiny of kingship and redeemer of his people for him but he spent years in disappointment of life in slavery and prison as the route to destiny.  God does not plan to harm you even when the path He chooses to take you to destiny is very rough. The destiny He has for you c...

FEAR AND ANXIETY QUENCHER

Image
July 28.    FEAR AND ANXIETY QUENCHER When I am afraid, I will trust you. I praise God for his word. I trust God, so I am not afraid. What can human beings do to me? Psalms 56:3-4 NCV HAPPY DAY TO YOU: When God starts a work of deliverance and salvation from our troubles, we must be able to stand in the peace and joy that He gives us as the initial answer to our prayer. While waiting, for manifestation, doubts about God’s love for you, His ability to fulfil what He says, brings the consequences of failure to you vividly etc. How can you overcome all these negative thoughts and feelings while waiting for God to perform?  Anxious thoughts are best put down by praising God. Having gone through such moments several times myself, I found this to be true not just in theory but real life experience. When I don't know what praise to say I sing. I find hymns best for me. Philippians 4:6. Praising God calms my heart down and brings me to the state where I totally surren...

The Friends Factor

Image
July 27.     THE FRIENDS FACTOR I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know what his master is doing. But I call you friends, because I have made known to you everything I heard from my Father. John 15:15 NCV I want to share what friendship with Jesus did in my life. I had a private issue that it needed a miracle to resolve. I prayed a lot and did night vigils and in one of the vigils, I knew something shifted in the spirit but nothing happened in the natural realm. In actual fact, things were getting tougher and more desperate.  In my heart, I heard ‘I am your friend'. I quickly went to search for friends in the bible. The first one that touched me was Proverbs 17:17 TPT [17] A dear friend will love you no matter what, and a family sticks together through all kinds of trouble. I became very conscious of Jesus with me as my friend and a family. My discussion/pleading with Him changed from that of Master to friend and brother. My mind th...

Showers Of Blessings HYMN

Image
July 25.   SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS HYMN: THERE SHALL BE SHOWERS OF BLESSINGS I will make them and the places surrounding my hill a blessing. I will send down showers in season; there will be showers of blessing. Ezekiel 34:26 There shall be showers of blessing 1 There shall be showers of blessing: This is the promise of love; There shall be seasons refreshing, Sent from the Savior above.   Refrain : Showers of blessing, Showers of blessing we need: Mercy-drops round us are falling, But for the showers we plead. 2 There shall be showers of blessing, Precious reviving again; Over the hills and the valleys, Sound of abundance of rain.  [ Refrain ] 3 There shall be showers of blessing: Send them upon us, O Lord; Grant to us now a refreshing, Come and now honor Thy Word.  [ Refrain ] 4 There shall be showers of blessing: Oh, that today they might fall, Now as to God we're confessing, Now as on Jesus we call!  [ Refrain ] If you need showers of blessings...

Faith Or Presumption

Image
July 24.      FAITH OR PRESUMPTION Some Jews who went around driving out evil spirits tried to invoke the name of the Lord Jesus over those who were demon-possessed. They would say, “In the name of the Jesus whom Paul preaches, I command you to come out.”  One day the evil spirit answered them, “Jesus I know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?” Then the man who had the evil spirit jumped on them and overpowered them all. He gave them such a beating that they ran out of the house naked and bleeding. Acts 19:13, 15-16 NIV One of the most misunderstood principles in the Christian faith is the issue of faith. I find that there is no clear definition to it because faith is life. It is often confused with presumption. Let me give a simple but common example of presumption. My niece believed I had money to buy a phone for her. She took the phone on credit promising to pay within a week without obtaining my permission. When she told me, I didn't have such mo...

Faith Grows

Image
July 23.     FAITH GROWS We ought always to thank God for you, brothers and sisters, and rightly so, because your faith is growing more and more, and the love all of you have for one another is increasing. 2 Thessalonians 1:3 NIV   Yesterday, we saw Jesus described a Canaanite woman to be of great faith while He described Peter His disciples to be of little faith. We eventually saw Peter become a man of great faith after the death and resurrection of Jesus. Faith does grow and how does that happen? What made the church in Thessalonica strong in faith? It was persecution for their faith in Christ. They were persecuted but they remained faithful to Christ.  I also learnt to grow my faith by taking note of times I believed God and He performed. That has strengthened my faith greatly.  The foundation of faith however is by hearing the word of God on which you base your trust. You need to read the word of God. God says He will bless the work of my ha...

GREAT FAITH

Image
July 22.   Job ch 9-11; Acts 20:9-38 GREAT FAITH Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. Matthew 15:23-28 NIV   Yesterday, we saw Jesus say Apostle Paul had little faith. Today we shall see Him say to a non Israeli woman that she had great faith. I chose to put the bulk of the story in to bring out the lesson clearly.  The woman came to Jesus to heal her daughter. The Apostles tried to keep her off telling her to stop disturbing Jesus. She ignored them and...

FAITH HAS LEVELS

Image
July 21.     FAITH HAS LEVELS “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.” “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” Matthew 14:28-31 NIV Yesterday, we saw that there is faith that stands on the word of God from deep within the spirit of man producing results. There is also ‘faith’ that takes its root from the reasoning of man leading to doubt and produces failure. This is what Jesus calls little faith. Word of God subjected to human reasoning.  By human reasoning, man cannot walk on water he will sink. But Peter heard Jesus and had faith that made him step out of the boat keeping his eyes on Jesus. Then he shifted his gaze away from Jesus to the storm, then human reasoning c...

FAITH VERSUS DOUBT

Image
July 20.   Job ch 4-6; Acts 19:1-28 FAITH Vs DOUBT When the disciples saw this, they were amazed. “How did the fig tree wither so quickly?” they asked. Jesus replied, “Truly I tell you, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.” Matthew 21:20-22 NIV   Faith is spirit just as doubt. Both faith and doubt work with the words that are stored deep in your spirit. Faith works on the word of God while doubt works in the realm of the intellect or reasoning of man. Faith works with the word of God knowing that He exists and He made all things by the spoken word while doubt works with the word but it must be within man’s reasoning  capacity. Let us see how this works out in the incident for deliberation today.  Jesus knew deep in Him that everything responds ...

What Do You Believe

Image
July 19.    Job ch 1-3; Acts 18:13-28 WHAT DO YOU BELIEVE?  “ ‘If you can’?” said Jesus. “Everything is possible for one who believes.” Immediately the boy’s father exclaimed, “I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!” Mark 9:23-24 NIV It is time to check what we believe for the times are getting tough that people may only have faith as the currency they can use to get things done. Many people when they fall sick now cannot even afford to go to a government hospital which is supposed to be free or affordable for the common man. The most serious of it is that even the local herbs are very expensive except those that one can pluck around. Faith and prayers mumbled to God with surrender to whatever happens is what the common man does now. Jesus gave the all purpose remedy that is attainable to whoever wishes to pursue it. It is not purchased with money but it is not cheap either. It is FAITH OR BELIEF. Because people use it casually, it has lost its importanc...

WISDOM

Image
July 18.      WISDOM The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding. Proverbs 9:10 NIV A man was the chairman of a big parastatal that handled the affairs of his business line some years back. He was in a position to enrich himself and approve some facilities and favours for his company. He refused to do either but also refused to give undeserved favours to others as his predecessors did. His appointment was terminated because he would not play the ball. When I asked him why he didn't play the ball and retain the prestigious position for his three years tenure, he said “for the fear of God."  Did the fear of God pay him off? Yes. While the subsequent governments found all the former leaders and those after him guilty of fraud to different extents, he sleeps peacefully in his house without problems and still has his company while most of his competitors have lost theirs.  Those who appeared wise by enga...

Know Your Rating

Image
July 17.   Esther ch 3-6; Acts 17:1-24 KNOW YOUR RATING 📖 A person with understanding has wisdom as his objective, but a fool looks only to earthly goals. Pro 17:24 ISV  Scriptures like today's for meditation sets me thinking deeply about who I am. Motivational teachers talk about earthly goals like money and financial worth, cars, private jets, etc. but this scriptures values anyone with such goals a fool. These things are very essential for life but the bible says they are not worth being a person’s primary goal in life. This sets me to gain understanding of why people pray with little success. If praying for material things is the key to riches, everybody in my country will be rich as we pray a lot for such yet the majority of the people are below the poverty line. Rather than praying for earthly things, we should pray for wisdom. The more one prays for earthly things, the more he establishes himself as a fool. It reminds me of king Solomon when he offered a th...

The Calming Name

Image
July 16.   Nehemiah ch 13; Esther ch 1-2 THE CALMING NAME For this reason God highly exalted Him and gave Him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow — of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth — and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Philippians 2:9-11 HCSB I was overwhelmed with a lot of things going on around me that I had no clue how they would be resolved. They were all things beyond my power to resolve which involved others and myself. In the midst of me asking God to calm my mind and the minds of all who shared their life issues with me. The Holy Spirit woke me up one night and said that in (at) the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow and all barriers must collapse.  The impression was so deep in my heart that I started calling the name of Jesus. I called the name of Jesus and at intervals, a prayer will float out of my mouth. I knew something ha...

Hymn Sweet Hor Of Prayer

Image
HYMN SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER And I will pour out upon the house of David and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace or unmerited favor and supplication [prayer]. And they shall look [earnestly] upon Me Whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and shall be in bitterness for Him as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn. [John 19:37; Rev. 1:7.] Zechariah 12:10 AMPC HYMN SWEET HOUR OF PRAYER 1 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! That calls me from a world of care, And bids me at my Father's throne Make all my wants and wishes known. In seasons of distress and grief, My soul has often found relief, And oft escaped the tempter's snare By thy return, sweet hour of prayer! 2 Sweet hour of prayer! sweet hour of prayer! The joys I feel, the bliss I share Of those whose anxious spirits burn With strong desires for thy return! With such I hasten to the place Where God my Savior shows his face, And gladly take ...

GET GOD INVOLVED FOR INCREASE

Image
July 14.     GET GOD INVOLVED FOR INCREASE  I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase. I Corinthians 3:6-7 NKJV I learnt a deep lesson from the company of Paul and Apollos, there will be peace and contentment in the church and even in the whole world no matter the part each one called to play. There is division of labour that involves God as the critical and final say.   🤔 Are you having a problem moving forward? Do you need a breakthrough? Then first see God as your principal partner. Then engage one stakeholder in whatever venture it is. You do your side of the job, that is planting; let the stake holder do the watering by praying and speaking the word on it and encouraging; then leave God to do His own which is causing the increase. You engage God in the venture by calling the name of Jesus like blind Bartemeaus until you perceive the presenc...

God's Primary Purpose

Image
July 13.   GOD'S PRIMARY PURPOSE For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 NKJV God’s primary focus for man is that we have eternal life. Whatever He permits to happen is working together for His purpose to make man live with Him eternally. Man separated himself from God when Adam and Eve disobeyed God in the garden of Eden. God made the pathway to return to Him through Jesus Christ.  When He permits ‘bad’ things to happen, it is for the ultimate end that man may see his weaknesses and turn back to Him. When He allows man to display his power through science, He allows it so that man may eventually see his weakness and helplessness and turn to Him. When you understand this, you will appreciate why He said ‘all things work together for good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.  Today, look at whatever you have gone through and say ...

UNCHANGING HELPER

Image
July 11.    UNCHANGING HELPER Do not put your trust in princes, Nor in a son of man, in whom there is no help. His spirit departs, he returns to his earth; In that very day his plans perish. Psalms 146:3-4 NKJV A woman thought the church would help her in her hour of need because she had put so much in the church when things were going well and the pastor knew her very well. Then there was a downturn in her business and she couldn't sustain herself. She turned to the pastor and all she got from him was ‘sister, use your faith’. She was devastated and she looked for help around to no avail. She came to me for help and I could only point her to this scripture that anyone who puts his trust in man or arm of flesh has no help at all because vain is the help of man. The day he dies, even if he is able to help, he can no longer do.  Fear comes when we have no one to help us from an impending danger. Whenever we have what we can consider a sure help out of any troubl...

OVERCOMING FEAR

Image
July 11.   OVERCOMING FEAR  Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ Isaiah 41:10 NKJV ‘Fear not’. God gives this command 365 times in the bible. I, however, see two types of fears. The first fear I saw in the bible and that we first know is the fear of negative things happening to me that leads me away from God. The second type of fear which I have to learn is the fear of God that makes me avoid evil. The fear of God is good and I am encouraged to do it. Ecclesiastes 12:13, Proverbs 3:7.  Fear of evil happening to one paralyses the person and it is morbid. It leads one to depend on his own understanding and avoid God. The negative that one fears eventually happens once you avoid God.  To overcome fear, you must know who your companion is in any venture. If God is with you and you allow Him to hold your hand, you overcome morbid fear. How ...

BY THE WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY AND THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB…

Image
July 10.   BY THE WORD OF THEIR TESTIMONY AND THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB… They conquered him completely through the blood of the Lamb and the powerful word of his testimony. They triumphed because they did not love and cling to their own lives, even when faced with death. Revelation 12:11 TPT Our heavenly Father has made the way to overcome the evils of this world plain to us. When Satan was sent out of heaven with a third of the angels in heaven, they started making trouble for the inhabitants of the earth.  Our weapons to overcome any of his trouble include the blood of Jesus, the word of our testimony and not loving our lives even unto death.  Through the death and resurrection of Jesus, He defeated the devil and His blood shed on the cross is the evidence that in Christ, mankind overcame the devil. We also have the word of God that we believe and hold on to without wavering. Even in the face of death, we do not give up.  Not being afraid of death is where ...
