GREAT FAITH

July 22.     GREAT FAITH

Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment. Matthew 15:23-28 NIV

Yesterday, we saw Jesus say Apostle Paul had little faith. Today we shall see Him say to a non Israeli woman that she had great faith. I chose to put the bulk of the story in to bring out the lesson clearly.

The woman came to Jesus to heal her daughter. The Apostles tried to keep her off telling her to stop disturbing Jesus. She ignored them and still kept asking for mercy from Jesus. Jesus discouraged her three times and the last one blew my mind. He said ‘it is not good to give the food of children to the dogs’ the woman replied ‘even the dogs eat crumbs that fall from their master’s table’. Jesus had to admit that her faith was great.

The lesson here is that nothing can shake or discourage great faith. Not even God refusing to notice your presence or saying it is not proper for you to have such a blessing can put off a person of great faith. This woman heard about Jesus and believed so much that at the opportunity to be with Him, she resisted all opposition to get Jesus address her request. How is your faith? Little or great?

Let Us Pray:

I pray that you will know Jesus enough to persist in your prayers to Him and resist all obstacles and discouragements that say you are not qualified for His blessings in the name of Jesus.
