MY CHARGE TO OBEY

August 10      MY CHARGE TO OBEY

Today we start our day with the lyrics of the hymn written by Charles Wesley, “a never dying soul to save, to point it to the sky.”

A charge that is not carried out is in disobedience to the responsibility God has given us. The story of Prophet Jonah is the typical story of a man who was chosen but was in total disobedience to the simple instructions God had given him for the salvation of the city of Nineveh. Our faithful God loves us and He is still in the business of saving nations from sin and perdition. Jonah was proud, stubborn, disobedient, unfaithful, self righteous and a grumbler yet God chose him. In Jonah 1:16

we see that the pagan sailors moved from panic to worshiping the true God and they made vows. All the sailors were saved and they acknowledged The true God.

There is a calling from our God whose words will always achieve its purpose- Isaiah 46: 9-10.

There is a call for you to leave your comfort zone and step out to save dying souls and to point them to heaven.

Will you answer the call? Will you be a Paul or a Jonah?

What are we afraid of? Will we accept to lead a people to their salvation or would we detour and spend 3 days in the belly of a fish? Do you trust God enough to take up his charge to you, without grumbling and in complete obedience?

As we read our bible we come to the understanding that God equips us to do the work He has chosen us to do.

Moses was well equipped,  first, he grew up in Pharaoh’s palace, he was the shepherd of his father in-law’s flock, yet he was reluctant to take up God’s charge to save the Israelites from living in bondage in Egypt. Even in his old age Moses obeyed God and accomplished his charge from God.

Today God is calling us to live in total obedience to His charge to us. There is a hunger and a thirst for the word of God and a need for labourers  to save souls and to point them to the sky. The harvest is plenty but the labourers are few. Luke 10:2

Heaven will rejoice for every soul that you point to the sky.

Let Us Pray:

Our God and our Father in heaven we thank you for the call upon us to serve you. Lord grant us the grace to obey you as you charge us to do your will, in total obedience. Amen
