BEHOLD I COME QUICKLY
August 18. BEHOLD I COME QUICKLY
Revelation 22:12
We have now gotten to the time as believers when our ‘watch and pray’ watchword is yielding fruits. We hear the voice of our Lord Jesus Christ speaking, behold I come quickly! Do we recognize the voice? We must do if we know our Master and if we are intentional in our watch and prayer in practical Christian living. How well did we do in being alert spiritually, physically and mentally?
Some believers I know have never read the Book Of Revelations. A lady told me that she is afraid of reading the book in the New Testament of the Bible. We cannot draw a line or choose what to read and what not to read, what we read from Genesis is revealed in the book of Revelation, the Old Testament revealed in the New Testament as we prepare for the Return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
He is coming for us to give an account of our stewardship of all that He kept in our care. It is a wake up call to us believers to be ready for the Owner of the World who is coming quickly, but the hour He knows not. This is enough notice to put us in the state of permanent preparedness so that we are not taken off guard. The message is indicating absolute certainty and importance of His coming.
The essence of this uncertainty puts us in a state of guarding ourselves and ensuring that we live a Christlike life and that we have not fallen short of God’s commandment. The act of praying and watching is intensified with our spiritual awakening. The event of His coming will happen so quickly and without warning, the emphasis is this occurring suddenly and quickly. “Behold, I am coming like a thief! Blessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, that he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!! Revealation 16:15
The days are here with the signs all around us, that Our Lord is coming, may we be ready for Him.
In today’s world we make elaborate plans when family members are visiting, we meet them at the airport not minding the hour of their flight, we prepare a room for them, we already know what they like to eat so we plan their meals accordingly. We ensure that everything is put in place for their comfort.
How prepared are you as a believer for the RETURN OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. Remember his promise in John 14:2, that He goes to prepare a place for us. As we await his return we are looking forward to the place He has prepared for each and everyone of us.
Let us Pray:
Our Heavenly Father may we be found ready and at alert as we await your Coming. May we not be found wanting in Jesus’s name. Amen
