A HELP TO WATCH AND PRAY

August 17            A HELP TO WATCH AND PRAY

Take heed, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is- Mark 13:33

As we begin this day, we are faced with the help we need to be able to watch and pray, so we must be prepared and ready. Our preparedness requires strength, alertness, we need to know The Word that would deter the enemy. When our Lord Jesus Christ was tempted by the devil He made him flee because He knew The Word. When we watch and pray we are sapped of energy which means that we must be very conscious of what we need and be specific in our asking.  This service is a practical obedience to God’s commandment. Every command from God is for our own benefit and for Him to achieve his purpose in our lives.

As believers, we know the time we are all waiting for, the time of the COMING of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are expected to stay spiritually focused and alert like the five wise virgins who had oil in their lamps. We are expected to pay serious attention to our thoughts, guarding our hearts with all diligence against any traps of the enemy. We must be totally focused on our Lord from whom we draw our strength to do the right things not relying on our own efforts. “For the Word of God is living and active, sharper than any 2-edged sword”. Hebrew 4:12 . The word of God  will keep our hearts and our souls steadfast as we prayerfully keep our watch and pray.

We must remember that our enemies are walking to and fro looking for who to devour, they will not find us because we are hidden in our Lord Jesus Christ. Psalm 3 is a cry to The Lord for help and we have the blessed assurance that He will slap our enemies and shatter their teeth. The psalmist was crying out to The Lord knowing that his help will only come from the Lord who knows his enemies by name.

Our help comes from the Lord-Psalm 121, all of our help comes from the Lord and none comes from man. My help, my help…all of my help cometh from the Lord, is a song from the psalms which we all sing with a passion, knowing and believing that all our help comes from Him alone. He alone knows the vessel He will use to grant us the needed help, it may be a Raven, it may be the Good Samaritan, we know that our Lord will always send us help as we watch and pray at the right time as our eyes are lifted up to Him.

Let Us Pray: Our trust is in You oh Lord, our hope in you that does not disappoint but is met in the reality of how powerful and gracious you are. Thank You Lord for loving us and for watching over us for our deliverance from all evil.

YOU ARE A CHILD OF PROMISE

MAY 1.       Acts: 1: 4-5   The days are going so quickly, I remember that Christmas was celebrated not too long ago and here we are celebrating Good Friday and Easter, the most important days in the Church calendar.   The celebration of our Lord Jesus Christ in this season is purposeful and it is from everlasting to everlasting. Some questions come to my mind, what if our Lord Jesus gave up on his disciples who had betrayed and denied him? What if our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and decided to take a holiday from the stressful life he had been through? What if he did not leave us the Holy Spirit, our Comforter? The questions are endless and we sure do not have any answers to all of them and many more. We are the reason why our Lord Jesus Christ did not stop to take a rest and did not deny us, forgiving the thief on the cross.   Today we begin to see the enormity of the work our Lord Jesus Christ did for us, from the cross to...

WHO IS GOD TO YOU

Image
MAY 2.     Deuteronomy 6:4 Our God is an Amazing, Awesome God, The Creator of Heaven and the Earth, There is no one like Him, none to compare with Him, yes He is a perfect God. He is greater than all that he created, unlimited in nature, infinite and he is the God in three persons.   As you are dressed up to go out of your home, you are attired in all that God created including you yourself. Your clothes are made from cotton, silk, your shoes are made from animal skin, your perfume comes from natural oils, your jewellery comes from metals that are found in layers of soil. As you stand, there is nothing on you that was originally made by you.   All of these products were created by God before He created man and gave man dominion over all that He created. - 1 Corinthians 8:6.   Psalm 14 vs 1 AMP says, “The (spiritually) ignorant says in his heart that There is no God!!”   What do we say to that? Question who is God to you? He is the crea...

HOPE IN THE WORLD

Image
MAY 3.      Romans:5: 4-5   Hope is not wishful thinking; hope is like making a long wish-list and waiting in great anticipation for each of the things you wished for to come through. You will find yourself marking off all the ones that God has answered.   On who are you hinging your hope on? My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and righteousness; this is the line of a very popular hymn that we all know. Is it true for you, can you let go and know that He who you hope on will not disappoint you. The faith that our hope has in God is the hope that does not disappoint, it transforms our suffering into endurance and our expectations into joy. This is the hope that all faithful believers enjoy, they have peace with God and they feel very secured. This brings the Christ-like character and the absolute abundant grace in our daily living.   Let Us Pray: Heavenly Father we ask to be filled with joy and peace as we are hopeful of yo...
