GOD IS YOUR ANCHOR
MAY 9.
So that we may no longer be infants tossed back and forth….Ephesians 4: 14-15.
The Lord is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and He knoweth them that trust in Him. - Nahum 1:7-8, 13,15.
When we think about the word anchor, we first think about a ship and the heavy metal dropped to hold it in place. A ship’s anchor stabilizes it during a storm, God’s anchor keeps us steady, confident and secure knowing how powerful our God is. We are stabilized and able to redirect our focus to our All-Powerful God.
Can we totally trust our God to be our anchor? Do we understand what it means for God to be our stronghold? God’s power causes our enemies to cringe and tremble before Him, and we are secure in Him as our anchor. Remember the times God has manifested his power and all impossibilities became supernaturally possible. This spiritual anchor represents our Lord Jesus Christ providing strength within when we face trials, He prevails and prevents us from drifting. We must continue to believe and trust in Him as He who will do what He says He will do.
When we encounter new challenges, we quite easily forget what God has done and who He is. When we understand and remember that we have an anchor that keeps the soul, steadfast and sure while the billows roar, we are fastened to the Rock that cannot move, grounded safe and secure in the Saviour’s love. We must not remain focused on our problems and lose sight of our eternal anchor- Jesus Christ.
Let us pray: Awesome God we are forever grateful for your stronghold in our lives holding us together.
