August 2.                MORE THANKSGIVING

           

In every situation (no matter what the circumstances)be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thess 5:18–Amp


      This is the time of the year for special thanksgiving as our children graduate from nursery to primary to secondary school and to and out of universities. As believers we celebrate every step of their success with thanksgiving to our God because we know that we cannot do anything by our own selves. 

      Nowadays parents and grandparents are crisscrossing the globe to celebrate with their children and grandchildren who have graduated from universities. These celebrations cost a lot of money and a lot of time is spent as families celebrate. We are grateful to The Lord Jesus Christ who has given us the opportunity to celebrate our children. We know about visa applications that are rejected, funds that are not available and our Lord Jesus Christ will always provide for us according to his riches in glory and we cannot take it for granted.             Our thankfulness is for our ability to travel in good health, for God’s provision and protection and the joy of being able to share in the joy of our families. 

    Today again we are looking specifically at thanksgiving which should be a lifestyle for all believers. 

The fruit of the Holy Spirit refers to the godly attributes of those who walk in the spirit, THANKSGIVING is one of such fruits. It is not about emotions, it comes from the depth of our souls and it is uttered for effect to our God who has blessed us. As we thank The Lord we begin to praise and worship Him as we are filled with joy and gratitude for what He has done for us.

     Thanksgiving is not an indebtedness that we have to repay, it is an expression of gratitude especially when we receive gifts which we have not asked for. King Solomon received riches and honor when he only asked God for wisdom to be able to govern the people God had given him to rule. Our Lord knows our needs and He gives us so we can be a source of blessing to others. 

       I remember an experience during the war, we had prepared our food, it was laid before us but we had no salt to add to it so we could not eat. We were hungry but we could not eat because of some tiny grains of salt that were missing. As we were wondering what to do, a friend of ours from the neighborhood stopped by and saw our situation. With a burst of laughter she opened her bag and brought out a little sachet with salt in it, our eyes opened up in excitement and we were so grateful as we all ate the food together. She said to us that she always carried salt in case she found food just like she did with us. The Almighty God had arranged for this for us to know that He knows our needs and He provides at the nick of time. 

        Let us learn how to be thankful for small things like salt that the lack of it would have kept us starving yet we had the food. Let us thank The Lord for the appetite to eat the food He has provided for us. Some have food but cannot eat, some can eat but have no food. We have food and we can eat, all thanks to our Provider.,

      There are so many things that The Lord has done for us that we have taken for granted. As we come to the reality of what The Lord has done for us and continues to do let us be thankful and be a vessel of blessing to others. 


Let Us Pray: 

We thank you Lord for the gift of a brave and thankful heart. May we always find something to be thankful for in every aspect of our lives. We will forever thank you for our families and for those who you send our way as vessels of blessings. We thank You Lord Amen 🙏🏾.

HOPE IN THE WORLD

  MAY 3.      Romans:5: 4-5   Hope is not wishful thinking; hope is like making a long wish-list and waiting in great anticipation for each of the things you wished for to come through. You will find yourself marking off all the ones that God has answered.   On who are you hinging your hope on? My hope is built on nothing less than Jesus Christ and righteousness; this is the line of a very popular hymn that we all know. Is it true for you, can you let go and know that He who you hope on will not disappoint you. The faith that our hope has in God is the hope that does not disappoint, it transforms our suffering into endurance and our expectations into joy. This is the hope that all faithful believers enjoy, they have peace with God and they feel very secured.
