THE GOD WHO SPEAKS

MAY 4.

The voice of the Lord echoes above the sea… Psalm 29:3-9.

All of us have the voices of everyone in our ears and we answer to the calls as we identify them but most of us do not know the voice of The Lord when He speaks. Everyone needs to hear God’s voice at some stage in their lives journey. There is a difference between hearing and listening, listening is a choice to pay attention to what someone is speaking while hearing could be accidental and not intentional. Samuel in our bible verse listened intentionally and he asked The Lord to speak as he had heard him and was ready to listen to him and to obey him.

Prophet Isaiah heard God speaking, looking for who he would send and he offered himself for the assignment.

When God speaks, His voice is powerful, majestic, it echoes through the seas, the mountains, the forests and the elements obey his voice. Psalm 29:3-9.

Elijah had performed a miracle in the open, he prayed and he killed all the 450 prophets of Baal, yet he fled because of Jezebel, a mere mortal. In despair he cried out to the Lord and He answered in a gentle whisper 1 King 19:11-13. Be still and you will hear him.

Whose voice do you KNOW, whose voice do you hear daily, whose voice do you obey? Our Lord God Almighty still speaks; He spoke to Moses through the burning bush. Today listen and hear the Lord speak answers to your prayers.

Let us pray: We thank you Lord for speaking to us in the language we understand. Father speak today for your servant heareth. Amen.

Bible Ref: Psalm 29; 1 King 19; 1 Samuel 3:10.
